ABCs Metallica hits shelves this fall

Metallica is adding children’s book to its repertoire. The heavy metal gods have announced its new children’s book, ABCs Metallica, will be available November 26th with a portion the proceeds benefiting its All Within My Hands Foundation that supports workforce education and the fight against hunger.

Including rhymes and illustrations, The ABCs Metallica looks back at the history the band from A to Z! Each letter the alphabet highlights a moment along the group’s journey from Garage Days to Master Puppets to fun facts about them. The book is co-authored by Howie Abrams (The Merciless Book Metal Lists, Hip-Hop Alphabet), with illustrations by Michael “Kaves” McLeer, who participated in Metallica’s Obey Your Master exhibit in 2012.

Books, as well as bundles with Young Metal Attack merchandise, are available for pre-order now in the Met Store.

The band is in the midst its WorldWired Tour and returns to San Francisco this fall for S&M², celebrating the 20th anniversary its groundbreaking S&M concerts with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra. The group is performing at the grand opening celebration the Chase Center on Friday, September 6th with a second show announced for Sunday, September 8th at Chase Center, but only to Fifth Member fan club patrons.

The groundbreaking original S&M concerts were performed by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony conducted by the late Michael Kamen in spring 1999 at the Berkeley Community Theatre. The S&M album, was released later that year, winning a Best Rock Instrumental Performance GRAMMY for its version “The Call Ktulu.” The S&M² concert will feature the first live performances these arrangements in 20 years, plus the first ever Metallica/San Francisco Symphony renditions songs written and released since the original S&M, with new orchestral charts by Bruce Coughlin.
