Are physical CD’s the new cassette tapes? It seems that is so with news that one biggest retail sellers Music CD’s Best Buy announcing that they will no longer be selling physical CD’s. Best Buy says after July 1st 2018 they will no longer sell physical CDS’s.
Best Buy notified music suppliers this week that they will stop selling CDs at their locations this Summer. No ficial reason was given for the decision but it most likely correlates to the popularity digital downloads and music streaming. CD sales were down 18.5 percent last year.
We also hear that Target may also be considering the move that Best Buy made. This is some serious news for the music industry because another stream revenue for artist will no longer exist.
