The album was impressed by Duran’s time spent on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, the location of his experimental quick movie, Into The North. It takes its title from the 13-month lunar calendar adopted by the Lakota group of Native Americans.

Speaking about his time on the reservation, Duran explains: “the ache that exists on the [reservation] I may by no means replicate; that’s why I typically suppose that I can typically solely be gestural…For now I can solely search to create some type of discourse round sound and politics.”

The album was crafted utilizing Duran’s improvisational, cut-and-paste enhancing methods, incorporating samples of choirs and snippets of interviews recorded at Pine Ridge with parts of hip-hop and reggaetón.

13 Month arrives on November 27. Check out the album art work and tracklist beneath.
