Whether you love him or hate him, Marshmello is here to stay.
The mysterious producer popped up out nowhere in 2016, creating a buzz with his infectious candy-clad persona and support from influential artists like Skrillex. After a string delectable future bass tracks, Marshmello began touring heavily, hitting major festivals as well as famous clubs all around the globe, garnering massive attention from both fans and critics.
As he went from unknown artist to festival headliner, many began to wonder who is behind the mask. Theories spread, answers emerged, and while his identity may all but be ficially confirmed, the decision to adopt the Mello persona has left many puzzled, spurring love as well as hate.
His mass appeal and rise to stardom cannot be argued though. The Mello brand has been a massive success. Apart from being one the most buzzworthy artists in the electronic music world, Marshmello has made a mark in mainstream media, through collaborations with singers like Selena Gomez and Noah Cyrus and a strong social media presence. He was recently on GQ’s top 10 worst dressed men 2017 list as well; as the saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad publicity!
This weekend, Marshmello will be taking the decks for Beats 1’s weekly radio show, One Mix, for its first edition 2018. Expect music from close friends and collaborators Jauz, Ookay, Slushii and Skrillex, among others. Knowing Mello, it’s going to be a fast-flowing selection tracks both hard and st, with a spirited high energy feel to the mix.
