Alice Coltrane's Sai Anantam Ashram destroyed in California Wildfires

The Sai Anantam ashram was burnt to the bottom within the devastating Woolsey fireplace.

The Santa Monica ashram based by religious jazz icon and swamini Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda has been destroyed within the California wildfires.

The information was damaged by her daughter, Sita Michelle Coltrane, in a Facebook publish. In the publish, Coltrane states that “Most all the buildings have been burnt to floor”, earlier than noting that her mom’s legacy “was all the time a lot greater than brick and mortar” and “will dwell on within the hearts and minds of the scholars and other people she affected.”

Last yr, Luaka Bop launched a set of tape and CD-only recordings made by Alice Coltrane in Sai Anantam ashram between 1982 and 1995 entitled World Spirituality Classics, Volume 1: The Ecstatic Music of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda.
