Albee AL who just beat a murder charge 5 years ago arrested again for new shooting in August

A Jersey City rapper who was acquitted murder in 2014 was arrested last week in connection to a shooting in Passaic County, authorities said.

Albert Robinson, 32, faces two counts attempted murder and multiple weapons fenses for his alleged role in a non-fatal shooting in Passaic on Aug. 23, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

Robinson, who is also known by his stage name “Albee Al,” stood trial in 2014 for the murder a 17-year-old four years earlier. Prosecutors alleged Robinson had thrown Jermaine Williams into the Hudson River in 2010 after the teenager was shot, but could not convince a jury to convict him the crime.

However, Robinson did not go free after his acquittal. He stayed behind bars and served the remainder a five-year prison term for a gun fense in an unrelated matter.

Robinson, who authorities say now lives in Irvington, was arrested Friday in Avenel by the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Task Force. Darnell Reeves, 35, Jersey City was also charged in the Aug. 23 shooting and was taken into custody in Kenilworth by members the state’s Fugitive Task Force, Valdes said.

Both men faces the same charges.

Police responded to the area Wall Street in Passaic just after 2 a.m. on the morning the shooting and found that two men had been shot. One the victims, a 34-year-old Paterson man, was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. Valdes said the other man, a 30-year-old Paterson resident, was shot but did not sustain any injuries.

It’s not the first time Robinson has been in the news since the murder trial. He made headlines in 2016 when he was reportedly grazed by gunfire in a shooting in Jersey City. Robinson took to the social media after the shooting to celebrate dodging serious injury, chanting in a Snapchat video “bullets must be blanks ’cause they keep missing.”

He now faces the prospect serving 10 to 20 years in prison for each count attempted murder. Authorities in Passaic County have filed a pretrial motion to detain the rapper through the course his prosecution.
